Transfer Protocol

For transfering data between the PC and the HP48 there is a special so called transfer protocol needed. Per default the HPShell uses the original KERMIT protocol by Frank da Cruz. If you want to use another protocol it is absolutely no problem for the HPShell. You only have to have the protocol in form of a DOS executeable and the knowledge of how to use it.

Examples for other transfer protocols are X-, Y- or Z-Modem. They are as libraries available for the HP48. The HPShell comes with the SHAREWARE version of GSZ (a multi-protocol program) and predefined parameter lists to support you with everything you need to use these libraries.

But donīt you forget: the HPShell is freeware, KERMIT and GSZ are shareware so you have to register them if you keep using them above the common testing periode.
